Sophia's First day at Preschool

This summer, Toby and I have been getting Sophia excited about starting preschool. She loved getting a new backpack and talking about all the different things she would get to do that mommy does not let her do at home- like painting and cutting with scissors. She picked out her outfit and put on her owl name tag, she was ready!
Daddy and Sophia before we loaded her in the car for school!

She looked a little nervous on the ride there and I thought I may have a screamer on my hands.
Sophia is so brave-I know it is not her first time away from me, but usually I am the one who takes her to her class and gets her settled. At preschool there is carpool. No need for Mommies to walk the kids into school. We pulled up, I turned off the engine and unbuckled her seat belt. I attempted to help her get out of the straps when she stopped me and said "I get it, I am a big girl". The Director opened the door and she just hopped out and said "bye, bye Mommy!" I got teary eyed as she walked away and I thought yes baby, you are a big girl....Where has three years gone?

It's a zoo around here!

Monkey #1

Monkey #2

Rub a dub dub, Is there pee in the tub?

(I think all their girlie parts are covered.)
I bathe the girls together which may sound strange, but it is just easier. We have had a couple of accidents where Ashlyn tinkles in the tub and we have to get everyone out, drain the water, bleach the tub and then start over. As long has Ashlyn does not turn the water muddy... we are in good shape.

Collierville,TN

We traveled to a baby shower for Toby's cousin, Lindsey, who lives in Tennessee. The trip there was long, but we had a good weekend. Here is Ashlyn with MiMi at the shower.
Poor thing... she had been passed around all day at the shower and was just worn out.
Sophia and Ashlyn had matching outfits, which were very cute. Since Sophia is highly allergic to pet dander and Ashley had a little dog...I don't need to tell you how that ended up. In case you don't know, her eyes were swollen and gunky, making her look a little afflicted. So no pictures for her. Here is Sophia the day after we got home. Her eyes were still dark and slightly swollen.
Thanks to Toby's cousin Ashley and her husband Derrick for allowing us to stay with them....we practically moved into their guest bedroom.

Newport Aquarium

This weekend, I took mom and the girls to the Newport Aquarium in Cincinnati. You cannot bring strollers ( a little FYI in case any of you are planning the trip) so I had to carry Ashlyn in a carrier while holding my camera, Sophia's Elmo purse and the diaper bag. Needless to say, that is why there is no picture of me enjoying the Aquarium! In the picture above we are trying to convince mom that the turtle was real. She obsessed about it being fake even though there was a sign below the tank explaining, in detail, about where the turtle is from, how long they live and yadayadayada!
Sophia showing Grandma where the lobster is in the tank, since she could not see it (even after we both pointed to it 10 times!).
The number one reason I do not get in the ocean past my shins!

I didn't know Jellyfish got that big!
Sophia enjoyed looking at all the cool fish, sharks and alligators, but I think the next trip to the Aquarium will be when both the girls are walking on their own and without my mom. I love the woman, but if heard "I don't see it..where is it?" one more time on that trip I was going to leave her there...good thing she does not have the internet.

Poor Ashlyn had to get her one month shots, but at least they gave her a glitter band-aid.
I know... no blankets, right? I cannot help myself it looks unnatural for anyone to sleep without one.
I have nothing to say about this pic. I think Ashlyn's face pretty much says it all!

Happy One Month Birthday!

One month and we are still hanging in there. Ashlyn has gained 2lbs since birth. She is all head and belly! It's so weird how they look different week after week. She barely resembles the peanut we brought home.
Big yawwwnnnn!
Since she still has occasional episodes of reflux, which terrify me, she still sleeps in the moses basket in our room. She is not fond of her crib and only wants to be in it for as long as the mobile last... about 15 minutes.

One week.

So sleepy! She sleeps for about 22 hours a day. Not that I am complaining, I guess this is the calm before the storm.
Still sleeping.....
You guessed it, still sleeping.
Sophia and Ashlyn-first picture together. When I ask Sophia what Ashlyn is doing her reply no matter what is "she is just sleeping."

Two weeks.

Two weeks old already! She is able to stay awake a little more and has given us some interesting facial expressions and an occasional smile.
Ashlyn is looking at this rooster Sophia placed in front of her. Sophia says to me "I think she likes it!"

Three Weeks!

Ashlyn is now three weeks old. It has gone by in a blink of an eye. Every day seems exactly the same, but at the same time painfully different. Life has become a constant juggling act- trying to keep Sophia and Ashlyn happy and me some how sane. It is little more difficult than I thought it would be, but well worth it. Especially when you see her poke her cute little piggy out of her blanket.
Ashlyn is already independent. She likes to hold her bottle when you feed her... sooo cute!
Here she is on her Teddy Bear chair..... did I mention she is cute!
Here is Toby with the girls early one morning, you can kind of see Ashlyn smiling.Sophia received a lot of dress up clothes for her birthday. So if you come over you can expect to see her dressed as anything from a princess to a belly dancer.
Sophia and daddy!
She is so silly! If you tell her to smile she just usually says cheese!!!!! For some reason this day she decided to actually flash a huge smile.
