The Zoo

Since the weather is warming up I decided to take the girls to the zoo. We have not been since Halloween...so it was nice to go. By the time fall comes around I usually need a break from it. We have a zoo pass, so we go at least once a week in the summer. Sophia was in heaven running around to all the exhibits and playing in the park for an hour.
If you look back at the blog, there is a pic of her at this exact spot when she was two. I could not believe the difference...it makes me so sad, she is growing up so fast. People always say "it goes by fast"...I am almost afraid to blink. Right before my eyes she is turning into a little girl. Not a baby anymore. She is a person totally separate from me with her own feelings and desires...I remember when she was just my little buddy who gladly went with me everywhere. Now I find myself asking her "what do you want to do today?" And she always has a detailed agenda... down to what she wants for lunch!
We did a lot of firsts on this trip. First time Ashlyn rode in the Joovey Stroller without the infant carrier...she loved it. And her first solo ride on the swing. She looked so happy giggling and kicking her feet. I wished I had brought the video camera. So much of our life is caught in pictures, but not on film. I need to change that!
Swing, Swing...my beautiful baby!
We finished the day with a carousel ride...it was a nice end to a fun afternoon. Of course, I asked Sophia if she had fun at the zoo...her reply, "it was okay." I thought, are you kidding me...I worked last night and I am running on no sleep and to get both girls ready, diaper bag restocked, and snacks packed... it takes at a minimum of forty minutes. By the time I load them both in the car, I have already taken my first of many deep breathes. But what can I say, she is her mother's child...never happy.

"Future so bright ,I gotta wear shades"

I put Sophia's sunglasses on Ashlyn. I thought she would take them off immediately, but she just started giggling and looking around. She is sooo cute!

Couple of random photos of Ashlyn. She is getting almost to big for the swing. I do not know what we will do if we have to retire it...it is a life saver.

Buid a Bear

The girls received gift cards from Build a Bear for Christmas. On Valentines day I took the girls to purchase their bears...well, at least Sophia got a new bear. You would think 50 $ would buy two bears...but it does not. ( Not after you dress them and put shoes on them.) She had a lot of fun helping stuff the bunny and picking out her outfit. She had the bear one night, stayed late at the Gallahue's and walked home in the dark with Daddy. When they got home, I noticed her bunny only had one shoe...so I got in the car and drove down the street, only to see it laying in someone's yard. Little crazy... I know, but she just got the bunny and the silly shoes were 7$.
Meanwhile...Ashlyn was content people watching and eating. Good thing she was not old enough to want to build a bear... because she would have got a naked bear.
